April Shopland: KEDC Director, President

April Shopland is a member of the K’ómoks First Nation.  She has a Masters Degree in Education from Simon Fraser University and a strong commitment to assisting young people with their educational goals. From 1986 – 1997, she worked as the Education Coordinator for the K’ómoks First Nation, and served a two year term on K’ómoks Council.  April retired from G.P. Vanier Secondary School in 2014 but continues to take on some contract work.  She has been involved with the K’ómoks Economic Development Corporation and Pentlatch Seafoods from the early days.  April was also a founding member of the Comox Valley Community Foundation and is a board member and past president of the Courtenay and District Museum.
